Children’s Ministries

Dear Parents,

I would like to introduce myself to you as the new children’s pastor.  My name is Kim Davis. I have been attending Trinity Church of the Nazarene since 1997 when my family and I moved from Vermont to Colorado Springs. Our children have essentially grown up in this church, beginning in the children’s program.

I have worked with children my entire adult life, and even before that if I am honest. I was one of those children who loved well, working with children.  My earliest memories working in the children’s department began with my cousin and I running the children’s church ministry at our church at the rip age of 6th grade! Looking back, I am amazed that our church allowed two young girls to take that type of leadership, but they did and what it did for me was to deepen my love for working with children as well as grow in my walk with Christ.

Looking forward a few year, I graduated from college with college with a degree in Church Music and Performance. My first position on a church staff was in 1987 in a church in Massachusetts as their worship leader which included working with the children’s department. From there I joined the staff in Burlington, Vermont, taking on the same role. While a part-time church staff member I filled the other half of my day with teaching part-time at a Christian school as the music teacher.

Upon moving to Colorado, I began teaching full time in the education field, as a music teacher for a few years and then moved into administration. I have taught from pre-school and all the grades through high school. Additionally, I have taught at a college level at Nazarene Bible College as a vocal instructor.

Four years ago I opened up a music instruction studio called Colorado Music Studios. I have a number of wonderful instructors who teach there with me, which gives us all the more opportunity to work with children of all ages!

Why am I telling you all this? I want it to be clearly known that working with children has been a constant in my life. I feel so strongly that these children need our utmost involvement in their lives as they grow and learn. Our children have so many negative influences, sometimes in their homes and definitely all around them through the media, other they come in contact with, school, just to name a few. We, though, have the opportunity to influence them for Christ, to come along side them and guide and direct them to a saving and fruitful relationship with Jesus Christ. And that is my heart, Friends. To follow the direction of the Holy Spirit as I and those I work with and love and nurture both the children in our church and those in our community that God allows us to work with.

Please let me know if you need to speak with me. My email address is kdavis@trinitynazarene.net.

I am grateful for the opportunity to work with you and your children! They are precious and an absolute joy to work with.

In Christ,

Pastor Kim Davis

Children’s Ministries Wednesday Nights

Wednesday Kid’s Connection is our focus on Wednesday nights as we gather together for fellowship, food, prayer, and encouraging one another in Christian fellowship. Each evening consists of a variety of games, Christian media, “Hiding God’s Word in our Hearts,” food, crafts, and more. All children in Pre-K through 6th grade are invited to join us from 6:30-8:00 pm. Nursery care is also provided for children age 3 and under.

Children’s Ministries Sunday Mornings

Mighty Mountain Children’s Church is for children in Pre-Kindergarten through 1st grade. It offers worship which includes a Bible lesson, live music, prayer, Mission Sunday, snacks, crafts, and play time (gym activities once a month and biblical board games, etc). Our MMCC currently uses Gospel Light’s second hour curriculum which helps reinforce the lesson learned in Sunday School that morning.

The Connection is for children in 2nd through 6th grades. Scripture reading, live music, prayer, Bible lessons, interactive discussions, Mission Sunday, game activities (gym activities once a month and biblical board games, etc), craft projects, puppets, dramas and skits are used during this time to engage the children in various forms of worship. Our curriculum for The Connection comes directly from the biblical texts.

Special Services: In the event that we have guest speakers or music groups during our regular worship services that we feel the children would benefit from, we may dismiss our regular children’s church activities to enable the children to attend these services with their families. You will find updates on these events in the Sunday Compass.
